The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) has announced a call for individual consultants to support the structuring and coordination of a regional marine and coastal education network (WIO-MCEN) under the RECOS project, which is financed by Agence française de développement (AFD) and Fonds français pour l’environnement mondial (FFEM). The consultant’s role involves facilitating a multistakeholder network, conducting scoping analyses, and mobilizing resources in the South-West Indian Ocean region. Applicants must demonstrate documented experience in environmental education, ocean literacy, and integrated coastal zone management (ICZM), and are expected to have full professional proficiency in both French and English. The IOC will shortlist a maximum of six candidates who best meet the criteria for this important regional initiative.
Interested consultants are encouraged to submit their Expressions of Interest by June 23, 2026, before 4:00 pm (Mauritius time). Applications should include evidence of recent and similar services, as well as relevant qualifications. This opportunity supports efforts to strengthen marine and coastal education networks, which are vital for the sustainable management of ecosystems and for building capacity among coastal populations. Further information and details are available in the official request for expression of interest.
