In observance of Coral Bleaching Awareness Month this September, the Reef Resilience Network, the Coral Reef Alliance, and the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) are hosting a specialized scientific webinar titled “Understanding and Responding to a Very Strong El Niño Year.” This session is designed to equip marine practitioners, researchers, and coastal policymakers with the latest science, global insights, and actionable resilience strategies.

Presentations will unpack the climate drivers driving elevated bleaching risks and provide a comprehensive overview of the findings from the Status of Coral Reefs of the World: 2025 report. Moving from data to on-the-ground action, the webinar will also showcase practical ways reef managers and coastal communities are implementing climate adaptation and resilience measures in the face of warming oceans.
