The seventh Diani Sea Turtle Festival will take place on Sunday, 14th June at Diamonds Leisure Golf Club, with free entry from 10am to 4pm. The event offers an opportunity to engage with Sea Turtle Ambassadors from eight nearby fishing communities, participate in art and educational activities, and interact with marine conservation organisations. Highlights include a sea turtle art and games area, an art competition, student performances focused on sea turtle conservation, and a prize-giving ceremony. The festival is designed for all ages and aims to provide factual insight into sea turtle protection efforts while encouraging attendance from across the community.
Festival Programme
10:00am: Festival opens
10:00am to 3:30pm:
- Sea Turtle Ambassadors from eight nearby fishing communities will present about their work and run educational activities
- Sea Turtle Art and Games area: dress up as a sea turtle, colour sea turtle art, play sea turtle games, and face painting
- Art Competition: view the art exhibit and vote for your favourite individual and group pieces
- Visit the Olive Ridley team and 12 marine conservation organisations showcasing their work
11:30am: Sea Turtle Egg and Spoon Races
2:30pm: Student performances (songs, skits, and poems on sea turtle conservation)
3:30pm: Prize giving
4:00pm: Festival closes
