Applications are now open for the Environmental DNA (eDNA) Training for Africa and the Adjacent Island States 2026, a fully funded blended course organised by UNESCO-IOC through IOCAFRICA and the OceanTeacher Global Academy, co-sponsored by the Ocean Decade Capacity Development Facility. The training runs from 27 July to 2 August 2026 at Pwani University in Kenya, with an online preparation phase beforehand. It is designed for ocean practitioners from Eastern and Southern Africa, including Early Career Ocean Professionals and mid-career scientists who want to apply eDNA techniques in their work.
Twenty seats are available. Selected participants will have travel, accommodation, local transport, and food covered. Applicants need prior experience in marine biodiversity sampling, a working knowledge of English, and a laptop. To apply, create a profile on OceanExpert, prepare a CV and a 300-word motivational statement, and submit through the OTGA form by 15 May 2026. Applications from minority and underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged.
