In December 2019, the Kenya Government in collaboration with UNDP organized the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy Western Indian Ocean (WIO) Regional Meeting in Mombasa, Kenya under the “Protect, Produce, Prosper” theme. The meeting was attended by 91 participants.
The meeting report proposes A Call to Action, from the WIO Regional Bloc, to save Africa’s fisheries. These recommendations are aligned with regional and international mandates and, if adopted, can significantly contribute to Africa’s transition toward a sustainable ocean economy.
