Lancaster University, United Kingdom is pleased to announce a PhD and two post-doc opportunities.
The PhD aims to investigate the ‘changing ecological role of coral reef marine protected areas’. The project will use large spatial and temporal datasets, remote sensing and advanced analytical approaches to understand how and why benthic and fish responses to marine protected areas are changing under increasingly climate stressed conditions. The PhD is open to UK and international applicants, and is funded as part of the ExaGEO doctoral landscape award. Project details (and others currently available) here: https://www.exageo.org/phd-student-projects/. Applications are due by 9th January. The supervisory team will be Nick Graham, James Robinson and Rachel McCrea (Lancaster University), David Bailey (University of Glasgow), and Aaron MacNeil (Dalhousie University).
The two post-doc (senior research associate) positions are both associated with a new project led by Dr Tim Lamont, called ‘Project ENTERPRISE: ENsuring Transformative Ecosystem Restoration by the PRIvate SEctor’. One of the positions focuses on scaling up restoration of tropical marine ecosystems, and the other focuses on quantifying the impacts of corporate environmental restoration initiatives. Both positions are for three years, ideally starting from April 2026.
