NORAD has issued a call for proposals for private sector actors in renewable energy and waste management. The initiative, aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth through renewable energy production and waste management improvements in developing countries, targets private companies, both Norwegian and international.
The objective of the grant scheme is to contribute to:
- Increased access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and clean energy in official development assistance (ODA) countries, or,
- Reduced emissions from the energy sector in ODA countries, or,
- Reduce marine litter in ODA countries through
- increased access to collection and environmentally sound recycling and treatment of plastic waste, or
- increase reuse and use of recycled products, or
- Reduced leakage of plastic pollution to the environment and oceans
Who can apply
Eligible actors are invited to apply for the grants by submitting a concept note and recent audited financial accounts by March 4, 2025, 13:00 CET. The call is open for projects implemented in all countries eligible for Norwegian development assistance (OECD DAC list). Renewable energy projects in Sub-Saharan Africa will be prioritized with particular consideration given to projects in Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda, as well as Nepal. Plastic waste management projects in Sub Saharan Africa and Indonesia will be prioritized with particular consideration given to projects in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Mozambique and South Africa.
