ECOP-AFRICA INVENTORY
The Early Career Ocean Professionals Programme – African Regional Node (ECOP-Africa) is conducting a survey on the inventory of ECOPs in Africa, and to understand the ECOPs’ needs, priorities and challenges. ECOPS in the WIO are requested to participate in the survey and to share the link with other potential ECOPs so as to support the development of the programme . THE ONE OCEAN SCIENCE VIRTUAL SUMMIT
A summit to take action against threats to the ocean
In an effort to mobilise the international community and take tangible action to mitigate such pressures on the ocean, the President of the French Republic has decided to organise a One Planet Summit dedicated to the ocean, scheduled to take place in Brest on 9-11 February 2022. The “One Ocean Summit” is held in the context of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the support of the United Nations. The goal of the One Ocean Summit is to raise the collective level of ambition of the international community on marine issues and to translate our shared responsibility to the ocean into tangible commitments. WIOMSA is part of this exciting summit!
