Unique On-Board Training Opportunity with Ifremer

The Institut français de recherche pour l’exploitation de la mer (Ifremer), in partnership with the International Seabed Authority (ISA), is offering two practical on-board training placements for candidates from developing States as part of its 2027 training programme. The selected candidates will participate in hydrographic survey cruises in the Pacific Ocean, focusing on investigations for potential extension of the continental shelf. These cruises, scheduled between August and October 2027, will provide hands-on experience with Multibeam Echo Sounder surveys and geological data interpretation. Ifremer is committed to advancing women’s empowerment in marine scientific research through the Women in Deep-Sea Research project (WIDSR), pledging to allocate half of the training slots to qualified women applicants.

Interested candidates must apply via the ISA CTP Application Portal.  The application deadline is 7 October 2026. Find out more about the programme here.
