Comoros National Parks Agency validates the Mitsamiouli-Ndroudé National Park Marine Spatial Plan.

As part of the project “Supporting Sustainable Inclusive Blue Economy Transformation in African SIDS” (UNDP/GEF/AU, GEF-8, implemented with GWP-SA), the Comoros National Parks Agency (PNC) held a national workshop on 15 October 2026 at the Trou du Prophète, Mitsamiouli, to validate the Marine Spatial Plan (MSP) of Mitsamiouli-Ndroudé National Park. The workshop brought together national and local authorities, administrations, coastal communities, fishers, women fishers, civil society and partners, alongside the international consultant.

Participants reviewed the integrated zoning, the action plan, the monitoring framework and the budget, and validated the plan. Covering the park and its marine extensions, the MSP defines no-take zones, sustainable fishing zones, pelagic fisheries zones and maritime transport zones, as well as community co-management areas. It is the second marine spatial plan in the country, developed through participatory mapping with coastal communities.
