The Carbon to Sea Initiative has just launched its highly anticipated 2026 Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) Research Call for Proposals, offering exciting opportunities for researchers and innovators worldwide. This year’s call features two major funding streams:
- Open Call 1. Global OAE Field Research Network – $5M supporting a range of grants to develop and coordinate field research sites, assess environmental impacts, and explore deployment methods at scale.
- Open Call 2. Targeted Research & Innovation – $1M which focuses on advancing understanding of sediment alkalinity flux and pioneering new approaches to creating or processing alkaline materials.
Scientists, multidisciplinary teams, and innovators are encouraged to submit pre-proposals by September 30, 2026, with selected applicants invited to submit full proposals in October. For more details on eligibility, key dates, and application guidelines, read the official announcement
