This has been an exciting quarter for WIOMSA and partners on many fronts. Here is what we are sharing in the June 2021 WIOMSA Newsbrief! We celebrated World Oceans Day with the launch of the Western Indian Ocean Marine Protected Areas Management Network. We participated in the Virtual Early Career Ocean Professionals Day and the African Marine Research Week. Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute- a partner in WIOMSA’s Marine Litter Project- has developed Kenya’s first National Marine Litter Management Action Plan. Seychelles has just formalised a new ground-breaking arrangement for marine protection by local communities and the MijiBora Project has developed a draft climate change policy for the County Government of Mombasa, Kenya.
