The WIOMSA Symposium Organising Committee welcomes proposals for Special Sessions at the 13th WIOMSA Scientific Symposium, taking place from 28th September to 3rd October 2025 in Mombasa, Kenya.
These sessions will provide researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and community leaders with a dynamic platform to discuss critical and emerging issues in ocean science, governance, and management. Organisers will play a key role in shaping the session content, engaging diverse contributors, and producing actionable recommendations to support regional and global ocean initiatives.
Special Sessions may adopt a variety of formats—from open sessions and roundtables to interactive workshops—and should reflect inclusivity, innovation, and cross-sectoral dialogue. Proposals are encouraged from all sectors, including inter-disciplinary teams, early-career researchers and the private industry.
