Announcements: Great Blue Wall Initiative Side Event and a Consultancy on Ocean Acidification Mitigation

The Great Blue Wall Side Event at the Eighth Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

The Great Blue Wall (GBW) Initiative is pleased to invite you to a side event on “Unlocking the regenerative potential of blue economies by establishing new kinds of People-Planet-Partnerships.”

The objective of the side event is to showcase the mobilization necessary to strengthen the achievement of SDGs 14 and others and the implementation of AU Agenda 2063. The event aims to enhance awareness on the GBW amongst ministers, high-level policymakers, private sector, civil society organizations and other major groups to consolidate, accelerate and scale up ocean actions that support the establishment of a Regionally Connected Network of Nature-People Positive Seascapes. Representatives from WIOMSA, IUCN, CORDIO, WWF, Wetlands International will be among the speakers at the event!

The event will be hosted on the Zoom platform and is scheduled to take place on the 2nd March 2022, at 11 AM-12.30 PM (GMT +2).

 Consultancy  on Ocean Acidification

The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) in partnership with  IUCN Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) through funding from the Irish Embassy in Dar es Salaam-Tanzania, is pleased to announce a consultancy to document potential site-level ocean acidification (OA) mitigation measures and provision of seascape level recommendations.

Interested firms/ independent consultant (s) are requested to submit their applications  including both technical and financial proposals no later than 5.00 p.m. EAT, March 11th, 2022 . Applications should be sent on email to secretary@wiomsa.org, copied to tuda@wiomsa.org and migulu@wiomsa.org with the subject line  “Documenting potential site-level ocean acidification in Tanga-Pemba Seascape”.
