The call for nominations to the Climate and Ocean – Variability, Predictability, and Change (CLIVAR) panels and the Scientific Steering Group (SSG) is now open, with appointments starting in January 2022 and January 2023 respectively. Nominations can be submitted online via the nomination form. The deadline for the submissions is 15 October, 2021. Detailed information about CLIVAR panels and the SSG, including current activities and membership, can be found on their respective webpages.
When considering membership nominations, CLIVAR takes into account the scientific expertise that will support the fulfillment of the terms of reference of the SSG and of the different panels. New members for the CLIVAR SSG will be approved by the WCRP Joint Scientific Committee while those for CLIVAR panels will be approved by the CLIVAR SSG.
Scientifically qualified nominations that support gender and geographical balance and promote opportunities for scientists and researchers from developing countries to participate in CLIVAR activities are encouraged. Young scientists with required scientific background can be also considered to join CLIVAR, which will provide them with the opportunity to work with senior scientists to advance CLIVAR science as well as their careers. The initial term of service is four years for SSG members and three years for panel members, with possible extension of two years.
