The Danielle de St Jorre Scholarship is currently open for application for the 2019 training programme. This scholarship helps fund the participation of one woman from a Small Island Developing State (SIDS) in the International Ocean Institute’s (IOI) two-month interdisciplinary course on Ocean Governance: Policy, Law and Management.

Since 2000 the IOI has awarded an annual scholarship to one woman from a Small Island Developing State (SIDS) who is involved in marine related activities to improve her knowledge of the subject through relevant training or university studies.

This scholarship was established to honour the memory of the late Danielle de St. Jorre, Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Environment and Tourism of the Republic of the Seychelles and a member of the IOI Governing Board, in consideration of all she did in her short life for the benefit of her country, the small island developing states and the world at large.

The training Programme will be held from 22nd May to 19th July 2019 at Dalhouse University in Halifax, Canada. The deadline for application is 10th February. The attached pdf announcement has further details on guidelines on applying for the scholarship. If you would like further information about the award and the training workshop, visit the Training Section of IOI-Canada’s Website.
