The Hifadhi Blu Programme will convene its next Systems Workshop from 22–24 April 2026, bringing together representatives from the newly selected sites across the Western Indian Ocean (WIO). This workshop marks a critical transition point between selection and implementation, serving as the foundation for refining site-level interventions through a systems-informed approach.
A total of three participants from each of the nine selected sites, representing eight WIO countries, will participate in the workshop. The convening is designed to move beyond proposal-level planning and support sites in developing robust, context-specific implementation strategies that are grounded in real operational conditions.
The core objectives of the workshop are to:
- Refine project logic and intervention design through the Collaborative Systems Approach
- Identify key leverage points and constraints influencing management effectiveness at site level
- Strengthen alignment between monitoring, decision-making, and management actions
- Support the development of realistic, implementable workplans and budgets ahead of contracting
As outlined in the programme approach, the Systems Workshop is not a standard training event, but a co-design process that ensures projects are operationally grounded and positioned for delivery prior to final grant agreements .
On 24 April, the workshop will expand to include Cohort 1 grantees, creating a dedicated learning exchange platform. This session will enable:
- Peer-to-peer reflection on early implementation experiences
- Sharing of practical challenges and adaptive responses
- Strengthening of cross-site collaboration and regional learning
This integration of Cohort 1 reinforces Hifadhi Blu’s emphasis on learning and adaptive management, ensuring that insights from early implementation directly inform the design and delivery of subsequent projects.
Overall, the Systems Workshop represents a key mechanism through which Hifadhi Blu operationalises its commitment to moving from project design to effective, systems-informed implementation, strengthening the likelihood of sustained management impact across the region.
