Notice to WIOMSA Members
WIOMSA is calling for nominations for the 9th WIOMSA Board of Trustees. As the current (8th) Board’s term concludes in October 2025, this is a vital opportunity for members to participate in shaping the future leadership of WIOMSA.
Eligibility and Nomination Process
Eligible members include paid WIOMSA members as of July 4, 2025, and registered student members (who are exempt from membership fees). Members can submit nominations, be nominated themselves, and participate in voting. Self-nominations are not allowed.
Each member can nominate up to four individuals, with one from each of the following categories:
- Island States (Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Réunion, Seychelles)
- Mainland States (Kenya, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa)
- Host Country (Tanzania)
- International Members (based outside the Western Indian Ocean region)
All current Board members who have served only one term are eligible for re-nomination.

- Notice to members: July 11, 2025
- Nominations close: August 6, 2025
- Candidate acceptance deadline: August 15, 2025
- Résumés submission: August 20, 2025
- Candidate profiles published: September 1, 2025
- Ballots distributed: September 10, 2025
- Ballots due: September 25, 2025
- Election at General Assembly: October 1, 2025
