Registrations Open for the 2025 African Ranger Congress

The African Ranger Congress (ARC) stands as a significant gathering for conservation’s frontline across the continent. Building on the success of previous gatherings, the third congress will be held from 17th to 21st September 2025 at Lewa Conservancy, Kenya. This event offers a unique platform for rangers from all parts of Africa, including those dedicated to protecting marine protected areas, to meet, exchange knowledge, and collectively tackle the challenges inherent in their profession.

The ARC is a forum created by and for African rangers, guaranteeing that discussions and resulting actions are practical, relevant, and foster significant advancements in the professionalization of this indispensable service.

The overarching theme for ARC 2025 is “Improving Ranger Welfare and Standards.” This emphasis is crucial for ensuring the long-term viability and effectiveness of ranger forces, including those working in marine environments. Key expected outcomes of the congress include stronger advocacy for ranger rights, the establishment of standardized training procedures, and enhanced collaboration at regional and international levels.

The insights and outcomes of ARC 2025 will also be shared at the 2027 World Ranger Congress in Argentina, ensuring that Africa’s perspectives contribute to the global conservation dialogue.

The African Ranger Congress is supported by the International Ranger Federation (IRF) and organized by the Game Rangers’ Association of Africa (GRAA). It will be co-hosted by the Association for Wildlife Conservancy Rangers in Kenya (AWCRK) and the Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA).
