Theme: Bridging the Gap from policy to implementation in Marine Conservation
This event will feature a panel of distinguished speakers from four countries in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region, who will share their experiences and insights on the challenges and opportunities faced by women in marine sciences and marine management. Discussions will focus on the gaps in empowerment and the strategies being employed to address them through policy reform and management at local, national, and regional levels.
The outcomes of this webinar will inform a final seminar to be held at the 13th WIOMSA Scientific Symposium in September/October 2025. This symposium session will center on actionable pathways to empower women in policy implementation and achieve effective gender mainstreaming within the blue economy.
