Discovering the Depths: A Stunning Photographic Catalogue of Saya de Malha Bank’s Marine Biodiversity

We are pleased to present a photographic catalogue that highlights the rich marine biodiversity of the Saya de Malha Bank, showcasing 113 identified taxa from its shallow waters (less than 100 m depth). The images were captured during the 2018 R/V Dr. Fridtjof Nansen ecosystem survey, conducted as part of the project “Characterising the marine ecosystem and morphology of the Saya de Malha Bank” in collaboration with the FAO and the Designated Authority of the Extended Continental Shelf in the Mascarene Plateau region. This catalogue features key groups such as seaweeds, seagrasses, corals, and fish. The documentation serves as a valuable resource for scientists studying the diverse marine life of the Mascarene Plateau.
