The National Research Foundation (NRF) is seeking a Managing Director for the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (NRF-SAIAB). This is a long-term executive contract position based in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. NRF-SAIAB studies aquatic biodiversity and provides research infrastructure to the Southern African research community. The Managing Director will oversee all aspects of the institute’s operations, including research, infrastructure, finance and community engagement. They will also be responsible for developing strategic direction, managing staff and securing funding. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Aquatic Sciences, extensive research experience and leadership experience in a research environment. They will also need strong strategic thinking, communication and interpersonal skills. Apply online by 26 August 2024.
