Inviting participants on a plastics training course to stop waste

The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) and Sustainable Seas Trust (SST) are pleased to announce the launch of the Plastics Training Workshop as an interactive online course. Have you ever wished that you had a better understanding of plastics and plastic pollution? If you are a decision-maker, a manager, researcher, educator, or involved in any way with plastic materials and discarded plastics, then take this opportunity to learn more about this dynamic material. The course will include eight days of interactive learning. The first part of the course describes what you should know about plastics (their manufacture, characteristics, properties, and uses) and the industry, and touches on waste management and recycling. The second part of the course deals with what needs to be measured when managing plastics and how to develop baselines and track trends. This plastics course starts on 10 January 2022 and will include:

  • Online discussions
  • Practical examples, videos, and pictures to assist with understanding the materials and its processes.
