WIOMSA Magazine: Breaking the glass ceiling: stories from women who are making a difference in coastal and marine resource management
The WIOMSA Magazine has been a popular publication for many years. The Magazine is written with the general public as the main target group. The magazine is not a scientific publication but instead offers a chance to regional experts to communicate their work to a wide audience.
WIOMSA plans to release an issue of the magazine focused on the theme: Breaking the class ceiling: stories from women who are making a difference in coastal and marine resource management.
We invite submission of articles for the magazine issue. The stories could be a personal piece on career progression or stories on making a difference through innovation, community work, policy change, solution-oriented leadership and teamwork, case studies of leadership in solving challenges in the field of coastal and marine resource management etc. Submitted articles must be interesting, of inspirational value and raise awareness of what the writer has or aim achieve.
Guidelines:
Start your story with a short self -introduction and what drove you to pursue the path you are on now.
The main aim of your story should be to highlight your experiences as a woman in coastal and marine resource management from your point of view as an expert, student, researcher, manager or practitioner. This can include opportunities you had, challenges you have faced, new directions your career has taken, important milestones encourage you to include a major initiative or activity that you are currently working on and/or a recent achievement.
We would like you to finish the article with advice you would give to young women planning to pursue careers in marine science or get into the field of coastal and marine resource management.
